Continuous-Variable Nonlocality and Contextuality

چکیده

Contextuality is a non-classical behaviour that can be exhibited by quantum systems. It increasingly studied for its relationship to quantum-over-classical advantages in informatic tasks. To date, it has largely been discrete-variable scenarios, where observables take values discrete and usually finite sets. Practically, on the other hand, continuous-variable scenarios offer some of most promising candidates implementing computations protocols. Here we set out framework treating contextuality scenarios. shown Fine–Abramsky–Brandenburger theorem extends this setting, an important consequence which Bell nonlocality viewed as special case contextuality, case. The contextual fraction, quantifiable measure bears precise inequality violations advantages, also defined setting. non-increasing monotone with respect classical operations include binning discretise data. Contextuality, Nonlocality and Counterfactual Arguments

Abstract In this paper, following an elementary line of thought which somewhat differs from the usual one, we prove once more that any deterministic theory predictively equivalent to quantum mechanics unavoidably exhibits a contextual character. The purpose of adopting this perspective is that of paving the way for a critical analysis of the use of counterfactual arguments when dealing with non...

Contextuality and Nonlocality in ‘No Signaling’ Theories

We define a family of ‘no signaling’ bipartite boxes with arbitrary inputs and binary outputs, and with a range of marginal probabilities. The defining correlations are motivated by the Klyachko version of the Kochen-Specker theorem, so we call these boxes Kochen-Specker-Klyachko boxes or, briefly, KS-boxes. The marginals cover a variety of cases, from those that can be simulated classically to...

Fundamental monogamy relation between contextuality and nonlocality.

We show that the no-disturbance principle imposes a tradeoff between locally contextual correlations violating the Klyachko-Can-Biniciogˇlu-Shumovski inequality and spatially separated correlations violating the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality. The violation of one inequality forbids the violation of the other. We also obtain the corresponding monogamy relation imposed by quantum theory f...

Quantum nonlocality and partial transposition for continuous-variable systems.

A continuous-variable Bell inequality, valid for an arbitrary number of observers measuring observables with an arbitrary number of outcomes, was recently introduced [Cavalcanti, Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 210405 (2007)10.1103/PhysRevLett.99.210405]. We prove that any n-mode quantum state violating this inequality with quadrature measurements necessarily has a negative partial transposition. Our resu...

Proposal for revealing quantum nonlocality via local contextuality.

Two distant systems can exhibit quantum nonlocality even though the correlations between them admit a local model. This nonlocality can be revealed by testing extra correlations between successive measurements on one of the systems which do not admit a noncontextual model whatever the reduced state of this system is. This shows that quantum contextuality plays a fundamental role in quantum nonl...
